🚨 Stanton's Drone Program Isn't Safety — It's Surveillance
Question: Is that drone overhead law enforcement or the kid next door peeping into your windows at night and watching you in your private moments?
The promise of drones was sold to us as a tool for public safety to rescue missing persons, survey disaster zones, and help first responders.
Instead, they're circling over Stanton neighborhoods like silent spies, recording everything and mailing out fines weeks later.
Last July, a Stanton drone spying on everyone in our small town watched someone light 300 illegal fireworks. It didn't stop the sparks. It didn't protect anyone. It just filmed then punished. Click here to see the OC Register article.
If safety was the goal, drones would have been used as a tool and cops on duty would put a stop to the illegal activity. Instead, the drone watched and now it's time to collect the revenue.
If fireworks are truly such a hazard then standing by with a camera drone is a huge betrayal of duty. Why didn't the cops do something?
📹 Instead the drones are watching families in their own backyards, treating every Stanton resident like a suspect, and normalizing government surveillance.
These drones could have been used to target real issues that take place 366 days a year that we all care about such as prostitution on public streets/alleys, illegal camping in parks/playgrounds, encampment fires on the railroad tracks, empty lots, & flood channels.
But instead they are aimed at you.
This isn't about safety. It's a privacy invasion.
Today it's fireworks. Tomorrow it's your backyard BBQ. Your family. Your kids.
So, next time you see a drone flying above in Stanton, ask yourself... Is that law enforcement trying to ticket me or is that the kid next door peeping in my windows. It's probably both!
Update: Stanton, CA - October 22, 2025 8:56pm - Just saw 2 drones hovering over Stanton. There's no fireworks tonight so now what are they looking for???

So sad. Go take a look at John Warren's Facebook page and you won't see any plan to help the homeless off our streets. Nothing about getting the ladies on Beach Blvd. to go away. No mention of all the closed businesses up and down Beach Blvd. Not working on repairing and reopening Stanton parks. Not working on tax reductions either. What is he doing on the city council if he's not working on our biggest issues!? I told you so!
Here we go again...
You might remember Stanton's Park Ranger program many years back. It appears that it ended in failure around 2019. That was a time when the homeless really began taking over the parks in mass while the Park Ranger did nothing of any use. Wasted tax money as usual.
Stanton's homeless outreach coordinators took over the job of doing nothing effective and notice above how much this cost us in 2022. Looks like around $400,000. And, during 2022 the homeless took over our parks, parking lots, sidewalks... a huge invasion of homeless thanks to the Outreach Coordinators doing nothing productive. What a waste of your tax money year after year. Click here and see for yourself.
Well, guess what...
Instead of creating a plan to get the homeless out of our city and into the help that they need our Stanton city council is looking into spending even more of your tax money again without a plan. They are looking into hiring Park Ranger Outreach Coordinators I think they are called. Doesn't matter what they are called. Without a plan nothing will get done and your tax money will be gone again, and again.
Go read this article for yourself
and notice that our Stanton city council is in search of a solution when they have no plan (like always). Without a plan there can be no solution. It's like driving from here to somewhere without a map. If you don't know where you are going any road will take you there. Notice in the article nobody thinks to first create a plan THEN find solutions.
Here is what a plan looks like. This is a video of Judge Carter coming to Stanton in 2020 to do the job our Stanton city council refused to do. Carter gave everyone living on the streets a choice... either accept help now today or get lost now today. As in now today! And, at the end of that day all of the homeless were gone from Stanton. Click here and see for yourself. Of course our Stanton city council let the homeless come back a day later then spent $67,000,000 of our tax money bringing in more homeless from outside the city to live in converted motels. This is so crazy.

Donald Torres on facebook
Go look on Donald's Facebook page to see what he has been up to. Not one mention about a plan to stop prostitution, nothing about Stanton homelessness, nothing about our closed parks... There is one mention about the high cost of electricity in our small town but no plan to do anything real about it. Removing Stanton's 5% tax on our utilities would immediately decrease our electric bills by 5% but he's not working on that.
Park On Katella Still Closed
Our Stanton city council, parks commissioners, and public safety committee have all let us down. This park has been closed for over a year and once it opens it will be filled with homeless once again. Can't we find one adult in city government to try to create a plan to remove the homeless from our small town? It's been done in many places around Orange and LA County so it can be done. Why not here?
Contact Victor via email: VBarrios@StantonCA.gov
Councilmember Victor Barrios: So sad. Victor Barrios wasn't a good candidate for Stanton city council but his opponent was so awful we had to elect Victor. Victor's opponent should be going to jail for election fraud. Victor failed as a park commissioner allowing homeless to take parks away from children and families and now Victor is failing as a council member (as expected). Victor was the best choice on our ballot. So sad.
Beach and Main St.
Notice that in all my photos there are no cops. No anti-traffiking team. No nobody. Just women on Beach Blvd. waiting for a "ride".

Oh my... It looks like Councilmember Gary Taylor is cut-n-pasting stuff from CNN and posting it on his Facebook page. Seven years as a Stanton council member and not even trying to work on a plan to stop prostitution or homelessness. Why does he care so much about CNN stuff? Closed businesses up and down Beach Blvd. and high cost of living for all Stanton Residents and all he does it work on raising fees and taxes on the businesses and residents. Go look at his Facebook page.
09-11-2025 Beach and Second St.
When the ladies are on the streets during the day... you should see it at night. It's on like Donkey Kong.

Stanton's facebook page
Stanton city manager Hannah Shin-Heydorn (714) 890-4277
Go look at the Stanton Facebook page. There used to be a monthly post about the status of homelessness in Stanton. It appears that the monthly post has stopped due to the embarrassment of the high numbers and the high yearly costs for Outreach Coordinators has yielded bad results. No plan to addresses the homeless issue or the hookers on Beach Blvd. Completely ignoring Stanton's biggest issues. No mention of the many businesses moving away and no mention of our closed parks. What is our city working on if they aren't working on the biggest quality of life issues that are affecting every resident and every business in our city?
No on Proposition 50
Strips the power from the people and hands the power to politicians to rig the election system ensuring their desired results. That is not what democracy looks like. Stand up to politicians, stand up for democracy. Stop politicians from manipulating the system. No on 50.
09-16-2025 Pick Your Part
When the homeless were moved from the bushes at Stanton Park next to city hall this is one of the places they moved to.
09-18-2025 Stanton Park
This is Stanton. The phrase "how you do anything is how you do everything" comes to mind. I got this definition when doing a Google search: This means your approach and attitude toward small tasks reflect your overall character, discipline, and work ethic in all areas of life. It suggests that consistent attention to detail and effort in one area, like a simple chore, will translate to how you handle larger responsibilities, such as your career or personal relationships.
From the biggest issues such as our city's finances all the way down to the smallest issues like this hole in the fence this is Stanton. A park next to city hall that our city allowed to get destroyed. Nobody cares that our tax money paid for that park and now has to pay again to repair it. The picnic areas have had fences around them since around 2018. Benches are now removed. Bathrooms boarded up. The rubber mat under the children's play area has holes in it. Council members, park commissioners, public safety committee... all standing around with their hands in their pockets with their head looking towards the sky as they whistle as if they don't see nothin'.
09-21-2025 Beach And Cerritos
So much to unpack here. Stolen shopping cart. Removed bus shelter due to all the homeless camping there. But, notice the bus shelter advertisement remains even when the shelter has been removed. It's all about the mighty dollar.
09-23-2025 Dale And Cerritos
Been seeing this guy a lot around Beach and Cerritos. Nice red suitcase. Sorry buddy but help is not on its way.
09-10-2025 Beach And Cerritos
Looks like help is not arriving. No Outreach Team, no cops offering a ride to our shelter, no Illumination Foundation, no CityNet or 2-1-1...
09-10-2025 Taco Bell
Always ladies day and night around the Taco Bell parking lot.
09-09-2025 Check Cashing
It has been interesting to watch this area behind the check cashing place on Beach and Katella. Homeless have been living there crawling through the hole in the fence. I wonder if anyone working at the check cashing place knows this.
09-08-2025 Starr St.
It's common to see homeless camping at the closed street next to the children's amusement park adventure City.
09-08-2025 La Barca
Must be interesting to watch folks in the parking lot from inside the restaurant.
09-08-2025 Bright Now
8 days a week folks in need of help hanging at Bright Now Dental. Nobody at Stanton city hall is doing anything about it, no Homeless Outreach Team, no cops, no Illumination Foundation, and none of the other 20 homeless non-profits doing anything either. Not one organization stepping up to take responsibility for the problem but seems to be stepping up to take your tax money.
08-24-2025 Beach Flood Channel
This is between ORCO Block and Park Ave. There was a moment of enforcement which cleared out Stanton Park and many homeless went underground. I mean, under Beach Blvd. There are holes in the fences at Stanton Park and on Katella as well.
08-21-2025 Bright Now
Seems like there are folks in need of help living around Bright Now Dental 8 days a week. Can't believe anyone visits this place due to all the homeless surrounding the building day and night.
08-15-2025 Living The Dream
This guy is living around the bend of this flood channel in the area behind the no trespassing sign.
09-11-2025 Adventure City
Seems like there are always ladies next to the children's amusement park Adventure City.
08-14-2025 Stolen Bikes
If your bike was stolen you might want to check the flood channel on Pot Ave. There was a much larger stack of bikes there at one time but I can't find that photo. Oh, notice the sign that says no trsspassing... ppft!
08-11-2025 Living In The Flood Channel
For over a month people have been living under Pot Ave. Notice the blue tarp. You might remember past newsletters displaying this same blue tarp at the flood channel on Beach and Pacific.

Mayor Dave Shawver: Mayor Shawver has been on the city council for over 35 years and refuses to try to stop prostitution, stands by without a plan and watches homelessness take over our small town for the past 15 years. Mayor Shawver has lead many attempts at raising taxes and fees on the businesses and residents over the past 35 years adding to our high rents, high inflation, high population density, and high cost of living. The best part of Mayor Shawver being in office for the past 35 years is that he can't blame our city's problems on anyone but himself. He brought the homeless to Stanton, did nothing about the ladies on Beach Blvd., destroyed our small town infrastructure with huge apartment buildings when we need local jobs and good jobs for our residents. Keep up the great work Dave!

City Council Candidate failed promises
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association
Kevin Carr has volunteered his time on events and causes around Stanton, the local community, and Orange County for over two dozen years. In 2012 Kevin led the effort and Single-handedly defeated our Stanton city council's ballot measure which would have taxed Stanton's television programming (cable and streaming). Kevin in 2012 also defeated our Stanton city council's attempt to increase the taxes on cellphones, land lines, and all utilities. Kevin worked against our Stanton city council's Utility Tax in the early 1990s and the Parcel Tax in 1997 (defeated it). Kevin worked against our Stanton city council's 2001 Stanton Utility Tax, the many sewer fee increases, and the many trash fee increases that our Stanton city council places on our bills. Kevin also recently worked against our Stanton city council's city tax on pot and the increase of our hotel room tax. Thanks to Kevin Carr we now have voting by districts. Kevin Carr also worked on term limits on our Stanton city council members so now a few have been exited from city council for life. Kevin has done a lot more for Stanton residents and businesses but this paragraph has gotten a bit long already ;) To summarize: he's one of the good guys.
