11/11/2025 - Closed Bauman's Market
So sad. Once this store shut down our Stanton city council allowed the homeless to take it over and now most of the building is torn down. This is right around the corner from Stanton city hall and the Sheriff's Station.
Notice that all of the pictures in this email below are from around Beach and Katella taken on Veteran's day last Tuesday. Stanton city hall and the Sheriff's Station and the Illumination Foundation are all nearby next to Beach and Katella.
Below is what the store used to look like when it was open.
2011 - Open Bauman's Market
So many businesses closed around our small town. So sad to watch so many local jobs lost and the missing jobs are either replaced with nothing or more high-density housing. Had enough yet?
11/11/2025 - Closed Food4Less
Good job Stanton city council! Stanton city hall and the Sheriff's Station and the Illumination Foundation are all next door to Food4Less. Remember all the photos I sent to you via this newsletter with all the homeless camping at Food4Less. If our city leaders can't protect something next door to city hall then how well can they protect you and your neighborhood?
11/11/2025 - Open on Beach and Pacific
What happened to all the "no human trafficking" signs on the sidewalks and the cameras on the streets? Without creating a plan first, our Stanton city council spent our tax money and now the money is gone and the ladies are still here. Why not create a plan BEFORE spending our tax money? There is nothing stopping our Stanton city council from creating a plan. Nothing.
There are no ladies on Beach Blvd in Buena Park. None in Westminster, Midway City, or Huntington Beach on Beach Blvd. In Stanton the ladies are open 24X7X365. Even in the rain over the weekend the ladies had umbrellas while standing on Beach Blvd. Seems like all we get from our Stanton city council is excuses then during election time false promises to clean things up then right back to excuses again once they get elected. Had enough yet?
Stanton City Manger Compensation 2024
It would take most Stanton households 10 years to earn $330,000 but our Stanton city council is paying just one employee $330,000 per year according to our California State Controller.
Click here and see for yourself
Our Stanton city council is paying just one employee more for retirement and healthcare than what most Stanton households earn all year. And what do us residents get in return... hookers, homeless, open-air drug dens, closed businesses, high local city taxes, increasing fees, decreasing local job market, high traffic, more high-density dwellings leading to restrictions on water/electricity/beach closures due to run-off...

Stanton city manager Hannah Shin-Heydorn (714) 890-4277
Go look at the Stanton facebook page. There used to be a monthly post about the status of homelessness in Stanton. It appears that the monthly post has stopped due to the embarrassment of the high numbers and the $400,000 yearly cost for Outreach Coordinators has yielded bad results. No plan to addresses the homeless issue or the hookers on Beach Blvd. Completely ignoring Stanton's biggest issues. Open-air drug dens. No mention of the many businesses moving away and no mention of our closed parks. What is our city working on if they aren't working on the biggest quality of life issues that are affecting every resident and every business in our city?
11/11/2025 - Closed Beach and Katella
Conroy's florist and 800-flowers buildings were re-purposed but not this one. 65,000 cars a day pass by this property and nobody wants to build there?
Cities with high taxes and fees seem to have the most closed businesses, crime problems, homelessness, open-air drug dens... So, where is all this local city tax money really going?
11/11/2025 - Closed
Loved the Golden Steer. Went there a few times a month. Once this restaurant shut down our Stanton city council allowed the homeless to take it over and now the building is torn down. And so close to Stanton city hall and the Sheriff's Station. If they can't protect something so close how well can they protect you and your neighborhood?

Donald Torres on facebook
Go look on Donald's facebook page to see what he has been up to. Not one mention about a plan to stop prostitution, nothing about Stanton homelessness, nothing about our closed parks... There is one mention about the high cost of electricity in our small town but no plan to do anything real about it. Removing Stanton's 5% tax on our utilities would immediately decrease our electric bills by 5% but he's not working on that. Businesses closing... nothing being done about that. Not working on decreasing local city taxes and instead increasing fees on businesses and residents without a vote of the people. Donald should at least try to do better.
11/11/2025 - Closed
Once this restaurant shut down our Stanton city council allowed the homeless to take it over. With a security guard and an iron fence most of the homeless have moved on. Seems like everything in Stanton has an iron fence around it these days and so close to Stanton city hall and the Sheriff's Station. If they can't protect something so close how well can they protect you and your neighborhood? Maybe our Stanton city council can get us all an iron fence and security guard?
11/11/2025 - Closed il garage ristorante
Back in the day this was a drive through dairy. I believe it reopened as a golf shop for a while then later il garage ristorante. What a hidden gem. Now closed just like so many businesses around Beach and Katella.
11/11/2025 - Closed and Never Opened
Looks like this project never came to completion. When the plaza with dozens of businesses was shut down we were told lots of new businesses were coming. I went to one of those waste-of-time Stanton meetings to ask about how many businesses were going to be setup here. At that time our city was having a problem with local jobs (like we are still having today) so I went to advocate for more local jobs. I was told that zillions of square feet of businesses... blah, blah, blah.. the conversation when into government-speak that nobody could understand and that was the end of that. So, at the end of the day Stanton really just wanted the property for super-high density housing and they were not taking input or feedback and the project didn't make sense back then or today. Stanton residents need good local jobs and instead our Stanton city council does everything in it's power to do the opposite. So, pictured above is the "work-live" storefronts without a storefront so it's just live which was the plan all along. The plan was and is more condos and less local jobs. So, about 3 dozen businesses and local jobs were removed and replaced with 8 business that continue to fail then re-open as something else. Nice job Stanton city council always doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing.

Mayor Dave Shawver: Mayor Shawver has been on the city council for over 35 years and refuses to try to stop prostitution, stands by without a plan and watches homelessness take over our small town for the past 15 years. Mayor Shawver has lead many attempts at raising taxes and fees on the businesses and residents over the past 35 years adding to our high rents, high inflation, high population density, and high cost of living. The best part of Mayor Shawver being in office for the past 35 years is that he can't blame our city's problems on anyone but himself. He brought the homeless to Stanton, did nothing about the ladies on Beach Blvd., destroyed our small town infrastructure with huge apartment buildings when we need local jobs and good jobs for our residents. Keep up the great work Dave!
11/11/2025 - Super Bierra Super Closed
Another business close to Beach and Katella failed. So close to the homeless problem at Stanton park making it difficult to get customers. Nice job Stanton city council.
11/11/2025 - Closed
Our Stanton city council allowed the homeless to live in our park for years. Now it's destroyed and more tax money will be needed to repair it. That is money that could have been better spent on more police protection.

So sad. John Warren has been a Park Commissioner for so many years and now all the parks around city hall have mass quantities of homeless and/or vandalism. Go take a look at John Warren's Facebook page and you won't see any plan to help the homeless off our streets or any news how much it will costs us taxpayers to repair our parks. Nothing about getting the ladies on Beach Blvd. to go away. No mention of all the closed businesses up and down Beach Blvd. Not working on repairing and reopening Stanton parks. Not working on tax reductions either. What is he doing on the city council and park's commission if he's not working on our biggest issues!? LOL, I told you so!
11/11/2025 - Closed
This parks has had to be repaired a couple of times and has been left closed. More and more of our tax money poured into a patch of grass for the open-air drug dens.
11/11/2025 - They're Already Working Part-Time, But You're Paying Full-Time
Due to the Tuesday holiday our city hall was only open 3 days last week. With every Friday already off and a long list of paid holidays, City Hall is operating like a part-time office while taxpayers continue funding full-time salaries.
Why should residents pay for full-time staffing when city hall isn't even open full-time? Moving to an official part-time schedule—24 to 30 hours a week—would save the city money and lower your taxes, giving your family more of what you earn, instead of subsidizing empty desks.
11/11/2025 - Closed
Across from Stanton city hall more closed businesses. Why are so many businesses closed on just one corner so close to city hall?

Oh my... It looks like Councilmember Gary Taylor is cut-n-pasting stuff from CNN and posting it on his Facebook page. Seven years as a Stanton council member and not even trying to work on a plan to stop prostitution or homelessness. Why does he care so much about CNN stuff? Closed businesses up and down Beach Blvd. and high cost of living for all Stanton Residents and all he does it work on raising fees and taxes on YOU and the remaining Stanton businesses. Go look at his Facebook page and see for yourself.
11/11/2025 - Closed
One would think that the Illumination Foundation would be open and helping homeless Veterans on Veteran's Day and instead closed. Seems like this place is only open when homeless are least likely to ask for help. During the day homeless can find a place to hang out and use restrooms but at night when Starbucks and the library are closed when it's cold and raining the Illumination Foundation is closed. That's stoopid.

Contact Victor via email: VBarrios@StantonCA.gov
Councilmember Victor Barrios: Not working on removing the ladies from our streets, not working on stopping more business from moving out of our small town, not working on removing the homeless from our parks/streets/flood channels/railroad tracks. Victor has been busy raising our fees instead of lowering our taxes and high cost of living.

2026/2027 Parking Permits
From Stanton's facebook page:
Mark your calendars! 2026/2027 Parking Permits will be available beginning November 1, 2025 for residents who live in permit parking areas. We recommend obtaining your permit as early as possible since parking enforcement will begin January 1, 2026. As a reminder, current permits will expire on December 31, 2025.
Parking permit areas are created when a neighborhood petitions to enforce permit parking in their area. If your neighborhood would like to apply for a new parking permit zone, applications are available at the Public Works counter at City Hall.
